Willemijn Vader - CEO 
An experienced entrepreneur dedicated to delivering novel solutions to the market that benefit patients and bring (economical) value to the health care system. Willemijn has over 15 years in experience in the oncology field. She completed her PhD in immunology at the LUMC and worked 13 years for Sanofi. She is a talented networker with a proven record in commercial effectiveness.
Since 2016 Willemijn has been leading VitroScan. She has generated fast engagement of medical professionals to collaborate in VitroScans’ development. She has successfully closed a round of investment, delivered proof of concept, created financing opportunities by formation of grant consortia (Eurostars, Health Holland), and is responsible for establishing the team to effectively manage growth of VitroScan. Willemijn is intrinsically motivated to make a success of innovations that improve the treatment, and quality of life of patients.
Donny van der Meer – Senior Scientist Bioinformatics
Donny is leading VitroScan’s bioinformatics and data science team. His entrepreneurial background is instrumental to the development of our solutions towards customers for predictive tumor testing. Donny leverages the full potential of the image based analysis platform to translate our data into clinically meaningful results. From his previous role as software developer at the Sanger Institute he has mastered the full process of scientific software development ranging from UX design in interactive tools and plots, to machine learning, to DevOps for high quality software. His skills to clearly explain complex data solutions to internal and external stakeholders support efficient development and validation of our tumor testing services. Donny is passionate about using his computational skills to improve the lives of cancer patients.
Esmee Koedoot – Senior Scientist Cancer Biology
Esmee is leading VitroScan’s Scientific Cancer Biology Team. She is a dedicated scientist aiming to effectively apply innovative strategies to improve patient wellbeing and treatment outcome. Esmee obtained her PhD in breast cancer research and acquired a lot of experience in amongst others organoid 3D cultures, quality control, assay development and high-throughput screening by working at HUB Organoids and Charles River Laboratories. Esmee is passionate to use her problem-solving and analytical capabilities to extend and elevate VitroScan’s assays to the next level. Together with the team, she aims to make optimal use of every patient sample and efficiently deliver high quality data with the ultimate goal to make the assay widely available for cancer patients, doctors and drug developers.
Lieke Ceton - Scientist Bioinformatics
Lieke is a valuable member of VitroScan's bioinformatics and data science team. Lieke holds a Master's degree in Computational Biomedical Engineering and prior to joining VitroScan, she worked on a collaborative AI-based research project of the Dutch Mathematics Institute and the Dutch Brain Institute. Today, she is applying her theoretical knowledge to optimize and further validate our platform. She works hard on translating our ex vivo responses to clinical outcomes by building validated predictive algorithms. Additionally, she supports the laboratory team in integrating new data streams into our digital architecture, enabling much-valued platform innovation. Driven by curiosity, Lieke finds joy in exploring beautiful mathematical and biological patterns. Her unique blend of academic rigor and wonder of the cell's complexity enhances our team dynamic.
Timothy Sijsenaar - Associate Scientist
As associate scientist, Timothy ensures that patient samples are efficiently processed and high quality data is generated from the laboratory. Timothy background consists of a masters degree in Biopharmaceutical Sciences at Leiden University before joining VitroScan to further develop expertise in the field of oncology. He is dedicated to continuously building on the available models so as to provide precision guidance for patient treatment.
